From the barrier islands of the Barnegat Peninsula and Long Beach Island to the back bays of Toms River and Brick, Ocean County was among the hardest hit by Superstorm Sandy — and it's where more Jersey Shore homes get raised than anywhere else.
Ocean County's shoreline is a long chain of low, flood-exposed barrier land — the Barnegat Peninsula running through Point Pleasant Beach, Bay Head, Mantoloking, Lavallette, and Seaside Heights, plus Long Beach Island to the south — all backed by the shallow waters of Barnegat Bay. On the mainland, the river and back-bay neighborhoods of Toms River and Brick flood from the bay side. Superstorm Sandy pushed water into tens of thousands of these homes in 2012, and much of the county still sits in FEMA AE and VE flood zones below today's required heights.
Raising the house is the permanent way to get a lower floor up out of that reach. The contractors we connect you with handle the whole elevation end to end: the assessment, the engineered plan, the unified hydraulic lift, the new code-height foundation, and the reconnection — one crew from the first measurement to the final elevation certificate. New to the process? Start with our guide to NJ house-raising rules & permits and what a lift runs in cost, grants & flood insurance.
