Flood Mitigation & Compliance

Elevated to the line the maps require.

Getting above the water is only half of it — the height has to satisfy your flood zone, your township, and your insurer. We elevate to the Base Flood Elevation with freeboard and coordinate the survey and elevation certificate that prove it.

Why compliance matters

The right height isn't a guess — it's on the map.

Every property in a flood zone has a Base Flood Elevation: the height floodwater is expected to reach. Your township sets how far above it your lowest floor must sit, and many add freeboard for extra margin. Miss the number and the paperwork doesn't clear; hit it and you've got protection and often a better insurance rate.

We plan the elevation around that number from the start, build the flood-compliant details the code calls for, and coordinate the survey and elevation-certificate work that documents it all when the job is done.

Compliance questions

What is an elevation certificate and do I need one?
An elevation certificate is a surveyor's document that records how high your lowest floor sits relative to the Base Flood Elevation. Lenders and flood insurers often ask for one, and it confirms an elevation project met its required height. We coordinate the survey work so you get the certificate after the lift.
Will elevating my home lower my flood insurance?
How high your lowest floor sits above the Base Flood Elevation is one of the biggest factors flood insurance is priced on, so many homeowners see lower premiums after elevating. The actual amount depends on your policy, flood zone and insurer, so confirm the figures with them.
What is the substantial improvement rule?
If a renovation or repair reaches a set share of your home's value, many shore towns require the home to be brought up to current flood elevation as part of the work. If that applies to you, elevation becomes part of the project, and we plan it to meet the requirement.
